A 19-year-old police officer, Jess Turnbull, has died from injuries sustained in a crash while responding to a separate incident. The officer was responding to a report of a collision on the A189 Spine Road in Cramlington on Monday night when a black Mercedes collided with her marked police car, causing her serious injuries. She later died in hospital on Wednesday.
