An armed man was arrested on Sunday at the Trump National Golf Club in Los Angeles County after he was observed taking photos and videos of the property, authorities announced on Tuesday. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department stated that plainclothes federal agents reported the suspicious individual walking on the grounds, appearing to monitor security activities.

The incident occurred just one day before President Donald Trump was scheduled to visit the Rancho Palos Verdes club for a Republican National Committee dinner. Deputies responded to the golf course on Sunday afternoon, where they identified the suspect as 38-year-old Jeanine John Taele of Downey. The Sheriff's Department noted that Taele was also being investigated for a robbery by police in El Segundo.

During his detention, deputies found a 16-round magazine loaded with hollow-point ammunition in Taele's pocket. A loaded pistol with a round chambered and another loaded magazine containing hollow-point ammunition were discovered in his vehicle, according to authorities. He was subsequently arrested for carrying a concealed firearm and possessing prohibited ammunition.

Following the arrest, detectives executed a search warrant at Taele's residence on Monday. They reportedly recovered additional firearms and ammunition, multiple notebooks containing concerning statements, body armor, and two radio signal devices, the Sheriff's Department said. These findings were attributed to potential security implications surrounding the incident.

Taele remains in custody, and investigators presented the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office on Tuesday for filing consideration. The investigation is ongoing and being conducted in coordination with the FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force and the United States Secret Service.

President Trump was slated to attend an RNC dinner at the golf club on Tuesday evening, where he was expected to deliver a speech. The White House confirmed the President's attendance at the event in Rancho Palos Verdes.
