BBC TV presenter Emma Willis, comedian Josh Widdicombe, and professional dancer Johannes Radebe have been announced as the new hosts of Strictly Come Dancing. The BBC confirmed the trio will take over the popular dance competition, following the departures of long-time presenters Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman last year.

This marks a significant shift for the long-running show, which has typically featured a duo of presenters. The announcement comes after an extensive audition process that reportedly involved several other major television personalities.

Willis expressed her excitement, stating she is a huge fan of the show and that stepping into the Strictly ballroom is something she "can't quite comprehend." Widdicombe described himself as "giddy with excitement, honoured and a little overawed" by the opportunity. Radebe, a familiar face to viewers as a professional dancer on the series for eight years, said returning in a new presenting role is "beyond anything I ever imagined."

While the specific roles each presenter will undertake have not yet been detailed, it is understood that the new trio will share hosting duties equally. This arrangement is a departure from the previous format and signifies the first time Strictly will have three permanent presenters at the helm.

Strictly's executive producer, Sarah James, called the new combination "unexpected" but noted that their "magic was undeniable the moment they came together." She highlighted Willis's "wealth of presenting experience and a natural warmth," Widdicombe's "unique style of self-deprecating humour and razor-sharp wit," and Radebe's status as a "one-of-a-kind talent" who will bring his "experience and knowledge" to the role.

Willis's casting means she could be fronting prime-time Saturday night shows on both the BBC and ITV this autumn, as she has also filmed the forthcoming season of The Voice UK. The BBC has not commented on any potential scheduling conflicts.

Previous iterations of Strictly's presenting team have seen shared duties. Notably, the late Sir Bruce Forsyth shared presenting responsibilities with Claudia Winkleman in his later years on the show, though Winkleman and Daly were the established presenting pair for many seasons.

Details surrounding the audition process, including other personalities who took part, have emerged, with reports suggesting that figures such as Zoe Ball were involved in screen tests. The BBC has maintained a degree of secrecy around the selection process until this official confirmation.
