Barcelona coach Hansi Flick has expressed confidence that teenage sensation Lamine Yamal is regaining his peak form, ahead of the team's upcoming La Liga match against Rayo Vallecano. Yamal, who has been a significant player for Barcelona despite his youth, faced challenges in the season's opening game at Elche but showed improvement in the subsequent match against Athletic Bilbao.

Flick addressed concerns about the 19-year-old's current condition, acknowledging the impact of a demanding schedule that included a World Cup appearance following a serious hamstring injury sustained in April. The coach noted that while Yamal's individual performance was limited at the World Cup, his return to competitive play is a positive sign.

"I know everyone is worried about how is Lamine, how is he doing. And of course, look at his situation – he played a World Cup after a huge injury," Flick told reporters. He added that after a three-week holiday and a less-than-ideal first game, Yamal is now showing signs of his former brilliance. Flick expressed satisfaction with Yamal's work ethic for the team, even if goals were not forthcoming.

The German coach highlighted Yamal's full 90-minute performance against Athletic Bilbao as crucial for his development and confidence. Flick observed moments where the young winger displayed "top level" play and confirmed seeing "excellent" performances in training, indicating a strong recovery trajectory.

Flick also commented on Yamal's demeanor, noting that while the player seemed subdued after the Elche match, he appeared happier in training before facing Rayo Vallecano. The coach acknowledged that players, like everyone, have varying moods and that consistent smiles are not always expected.

Barcelona has secured victories in their initial two league fixtures, with Raphinha often filling a central attacking role. This has occurred amid reports that the club was unable to secure their primary transfer target, Julian Alvarez from Atletico Madrid. Flick stated his contentment with the current squad, emphasizing that Sporting Director Deco is actively working to reinforce the team.

Despite the challenges and the ongoing transfer market activities, Flick reiterated his satisfaction with the players available. He indicated that the club is prepared to move forward with the existing squad if no new striker is signed, underscoring a pragmatic approach to team management.
