Gaza City, Gaza Strip – Thousands of Palestinians gathered on Sunday for a mass funeral procession in the Zeitoun neighborhood of Gaza City, mourning 100 individuals whose remains were recovered from beneath the rubble of destroyed homes. The bodies, draped in Palestinian flags, were carried by relatives and community members to the al-Ma'madani cemetery for burial.

The recovered victims, identified by local authorities as belonging to the Rahim, Balawi, Malaka, Qanbour, and Salmi families, were killed approximately two and a half years ago when Israeli forces struck several residential buildings in the area. The extended Malaka family alone lost 55 members in the incident, with other families from Zeitoun also heavily impacted.

This recovery operation follows similar efforts in recent weeks that have brought to light the scale of loss from previous Israeli strikes. Officials and activists reported the retrieval of over 100 bodies from the Abu Shariah and Hassaniya families after a single strike, and more than 500 individuals from the al-Taj Tower site.
