The announcement comes as the conflict intensifies, with significant clashes and reciprocal strikes between Saudi forces and the Houthi group.

The accusations highlight a period of heightened military activity in Yemen. The Houthis reported on Friday that Saudi strikes on territory they control had reached 300 over the preceding week. These strikes reportedly targeted positions across multiple areas held by the group, indicating a broad offensive.

In parallel, Yemen's government, which is backed by Saudi Arabia, reported its forces killed 30 Houthi rebels and wounded over 60 in clashes in the al-Wazi’iyah district of Taiz province. This province is one of several fronts where combat has significantly increased this week, adding to the overall intensity of the war.

The escalating violence has raised international concern, particularly regarding maritime security. The United States has engaged with Houthi representatives in Muscat, Oman, following the group's territorial gains, which have brought strategic areas like the Bab al-Mandeb Strait under their control. Kaja Kallas, the EU's foreign policy chief, announced that the bloc's naval mission in the Red Sea, Operation Aspides, has increased its alert level. Saudi Arabia confirmed one fatality in Taif governorate following the interception of a Houthi drone, while Houthi-linked media reported deaths from Saudi strikes in Taiz and the town of Abs.
