The Department of the Interior has submitted the final plans for President Donald Trump's proposed monumental arch, referred to as the Triumphal Arch or Monumental Arch, to the National Capital Planning Commission (NCPC) for its review. The submission includes updated traffic and lighting plans for the ambitious project.

The proposed arch, which would stand 250 stories tall, is envisioned to feature a golden winged statue atop its structure. This statue would resemble the Statue of Liberty and hold a torch with an "eternal flame." According to the NCPC's project summary, the design aims to make the flame visible from all angles, day and night, while ensuring visual comfort for drivers, visitors, and the surrounding environment.

The inclusion of the eternal flame was also a requirement stemming from the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) safety review. The final plans also detail the removal of 15 originally proposed traffic signal posts and modifications to traffic circulation routes.

However, the administration had previously acknowledged that the arch, slated for construction at the foot of Arlington National Cemetery across the Potomac River on National Park Service land, would cause adverse effects on the river's setting and views.
