Israeli forces conducted widespread raids across at least 15 towns in the occupied northern West Bank, detaining dozens of Palestinians on Saturday. The military operations followed an announcement by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordering a full lockdown of the West Bank after an attack in Hebron killed two Israeli soldiers.

The raids targeted several key cities and towns, including Nablus, Jenin, Tubas, and Qalqilya. In Nablus, forces carried out arrests and searched Palestinian homes in the villages of Jalud and Qaryut. Arrests were also reported near Jenin in Arrabeh and Burqin, while Tubas and the nearby town of Aqqaba were also entered by Israeli troops.

In the southern West Bank city of Hebron, Israeli bulldozers demolished a three-story building after families were given only five minutes to evacuate. Hundreds of Palestinian families in the Ein Deir Bahha area and its surroundings were also ordered to forcibly leave their homes. Israeli forces also surrounded the home of one of the suspects in the Hebron shooting attack.

The Israeli army stated late Friday that its operation in Hebron would extend for "several days," with additional forces engaged in operations in "dozens" of other areas across the West Bank. Further east, Israeli forces entered Jericho and the adjacent Aqabat Jabr refugee camp.

Prime Minister Netanyahu's order for a full West Bank lockdown means nearly 1,000 checkpoints and gates will be closed, significantly impacting millions of Palestinians. The clampdown was initiated shortly after the Israeli military announced it had killed two Palestinian gunmen involved in the shooting attack near the Telem settlement, which resulted in the deaths of two soldiers. Israel's ambulance service confirmed at least three other Israeli soldiers were injured.

International law considers all Israeli settlements, including Telem, to be illegal. The heightened tensions and subsequent crackdown occur amid a period of increased aggression, with reports of attacks on olive harvesters intensifying in the lead-up to upcoming Israeli elections.

Israeli forces also conducted raids in the al-Jalda neighborhood of Hebron, a city that has seen significant Israeli military presence following the shooting incident. The operations underscore the volatile security situation in the occupied West Bank.

The extended military operations and the lockdown are expected to further restrict movement and daily life for Palestinians in the West Bank, exacerbating existing challenges.
