A manhunt is underway for Thomas Ryan, 32, who authorities believe killed his father and then set fire to the victim's home in Greenville, Orange County, New York, on Thursday. Ryan is considered armed and dangerous, according to New York State Police.

Investigators responded to a fire at a residence on Greenville Turnpike. After extinguishing the blaze, they discovered the body of a deceased man inside. A preliminary investigation revealed the fire was intentionally set, and authorities are treating the death as a homicide.

Law enforcement sources identified the man found dead as 70-year-old Robert Ryan. His daughter, Stephanie Coiro, described her father as a loving and supportive figure who "did not deserve this."

Authorities are also examining Thomas Ryan's mental health history as part of the investigation. He is described as being 6 feet 2 inches tall, approximately 200 pounds, and was last seen wearing black sweatpants and a black t-shirt. Ring camera footage obtained by ABC News appears to show Ryan fleeing the burning house.

Police stated that Ryan is known to frequent the Plattsburgh area in Clinton County. He may be driving a gray 2016 Toyota Prius with New York license plate HNH-7671, which is believed to be the victim's vehicle.

New York State Police are urging residents in the Greenville community to review any home surveillance footage from Thursday evening through the overnight hours for suspicious activity. They have asked the public not to approach Ryan if they see him.
