A suicide attack on a security checkpoint in northwestern Pakistan has killed 27 people, including soldiers, police, and attackers, the army reported. The overnight assault occurred near the Afghan border in the restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, a region known for hosting armed groups.

The Pakistan Taliban (TTP) armed group claimed responsibility for the attack, stating that four suicide bombers were involved. According to the military, the attackers attempted to breach the checkpoint in the Tank district before detonating a vehicle laden with explosives against its perimeter wall. Among the fatalities were 12 soldiers, two police officers, a forestry official, and 12 of the assailants.
