Two officials from Britain's far-right Reform UK party have stepped down following allegations of breaching political donation rules. James Orr, the party's head of policy, and Dan Jukes, a long-term aide to leader Nigel Farage, announced their resignations on Friday.

The departures come in the wake of an investigative television documentary by Channel 4 News, which reportedly showed Jukes suggesting ways to circumvent electoral law for overseas donations. The documentary also alleged that Reform UK officials arranged for an overseas company to fund the party's polling activities.

Nigel Farage, the leader of Reform UK, stated that the party has "broken no laws" but acknowledged that "entrapped conversations don't look good." He confirmed that the party has launched its own investigation into the allegations. The Metropolitan Police in London confirmed they are "aware of media reporting... involving political party donations and an alleged breach of the Political Parties, Elections and Referendums Act 2000 relating to polling."

The ruling Labour Party and the opposition Liberal Democrats have both reported Reform UK to the police. The anti-immigration party had initially dismissed the documentary's findings as a "hoax." Farage, however, countered by accusing other political parties of "selling peerages" and suggested that "all sorts of things have been done over decades that are wrong" in political funding.

This latest controversy adds to a series of funding scandals that have recently plagued Reform UK. Among these, the disclosure of an undeclared personal gift of 5 million pounds ($6.7 million) to Nigel Farage from cryptocurrency billionaire Christopher Harborne has caused significant damage. Harborne has also reportedly donated over 25 million pounds ($33.6 million) to Reform UK.

Both criminal and parliamentary investigations are ongoing into Harborne's donations. Scrutiny has particularly focused on Tether, Harborne's cryptocurrency, which has been widely linked to illicit activities.

The resignations of Orr and Jukes occur just before the party's annual conference, potentially casting a shadow over its upcoming events and public image.

Reform UK's support has reportedly slid amid these repeated reports concerning infringements of party donation rules, raising questions about the party's financial transparency and adherence to electoral regulations.
