Former world snooker champion Graeme Dott has been found guilty of two charges of child sexual abuse.

The 49-year-old was convicted at the High Court in Glasgow after denying charges of lewd and libidinous behaviour towards a girl and a boy.

During a five-day trial, the court heard evidence that Dott exposed himself and inappropriately touched a primary school-aged girl in the 1990s. Further allegations detailed an attack on a young boy between 2006 and 2010.

Lord Harrower, who presided over the trial, informed Dott that sentencing would take place at a separate hearing in Edinburgh on September 29. Dott, who won the World Snooker Championship in 2006, covered his face and shook his head as the verdict was delivered.

Lewd and libidinous practices refer to sexual crimes against children committed before December 1, 2010. The offence was abolished in 2009 but remains applicable to offences committed before that date. The court heard that Dott caressed the girl's bottom while giving her a piggyback and, on another occasion, exposed himself to her. In a separate incident, he suggested she remove her trousers and lifted her top, kissing her stomach.

The woman, now in her 40s, recalled Dott kissing her, touching her inappropriately, and performing a sexual act that would be considered rape under current law. She also mentioned the smell of creams Dott used for a skin condition after these encounters, stating the actions left her shocked and scared. The court heard Dott had bought her a teddy bear with a love heart during the period of abuse.

Police had initially contacted Dott about the allegations in 2001, but no charges were brought at that time. The woman provided a new statement to the police in 2025, leading to the current charges.

The boy, now in his 20s, testified that the abuse began shortly after Dott's 2006 World Championship victory. He stated that Dott molested him in a shower at a home in South Lanarkshire when he was about eight years old. He also recounted being rewarded with crisps and fizzy drinks, and once receiving £50, which Dott later accused him of stealing. The abuse also occurred in a car and while Dott was playing online poker.

Dott had previously denied all allegations, telling the trial that the claims were false and that he had never acted inappropriately. A victim impact statement from the woman was presented to Lord Harrower for consideration during sentencing. Dott was taken into custody following the verdict.
