Former BBC Radio 1 and Capital Xtra DJ Tim Westwood has been charged with two further sexual offences, the Metropolitan Police announced on September 22, 2026. The new charges include an alleged indecent assault against a teenage girl in 1991 and the alleged sexual assault of an 18-year-old woman in 2004.

These accusations add to the existing charges brought against Westwood, 68, in October 2025. Those earlier charges, which relate to seven women, include four counts of rape. Westwood has consistently denied multiple sex offence allegations, including rape and sexual assault, and previously pleaded not guilty to the initial charges in December 2025.

With the addition of these two new charges, Tim Westwood is now facing a total of 17 charges involving nine separate women. The Metropolitan Police stated that the women who have made reports have placed their trust in the investigation. The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) confirmed that they have authorised the two further charges of sexual assault and indecent assault.

Westwood is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court at a future date concerning these latest charges. Meanwhile, a trial for the original 15 charges is set to commence at Southwark Crown Court on January 25, 2027. The CPS emphasized that criminal proceedings are active and that the defendant is entitled to a fair trial.

Detective Superintendent Andy Furphy of the Metropolitan Police Service reiterated the commitment to supporting the women who have come forward. Independent support services, such as Rape Crisis, are available to those affected.

The new charges follow an investigation by the Metropolitan Police into separate reports of non-recent offences. The alleged indecent assault occurred in Hammersmith and Fulham in 1991, and the alleged sexual assault took place in Wandsworth in 2004. These incidents involve two additional women who have reported their experiences.

Catherine P Baccas, deputy chief crown prosecutor for the CPS London, stated that prosecutors have worked to ensure sufficient evidence exists to proceed with these additional charges in the public interest. The CPS has previously charged Westwood with nine counts of indecent assault, two counts of sexual assault, and four counts of rape, relating to alleged offences between 1983 and 2016.

This development escalates the legal proceedings against the former radio personality. The case continues to highlight the ongoing process of addressing historical allegations of sexual offences and the support provided to complainants throughout these investigations.
