Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan met with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto in Jakarta on Wednesday, signaling significant progress toward a bilateral trade volume target of $10 billion.

The high-level discussion aimed to bolster economic ties between the two nations, which have pledged to deepen cooperation and explore new avenues for bilateral engagement.

During the meeting, Fidan described the discussions as "extremely productive," highlighting a broad range of sectors targeted for expanded collaboration. The $10 billion trade target was initially agreed upon in April of the previous year, a commitment made by the leaders of both countries to foster stronger economic partnerships and achieve "new breakthroughs" in their bilateral cooperation.

President Prabowo conveyed his gratitude to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan for Turkiye's assistance in repatriating nine Indonesian citizens. These individuals were part of a humanitarian mission to Gaza that was intercepted. The Indonesian presidency stated that both sides also exchanged views on Middle Eastern developments, with a particular focus on Iran and Palestine.

Both nations, identified as fellow countries in the "Global South," share a common perspective on maintaining regional stability through dialogue, diplomacy, and the peaceful resolution of disputes.
