Tyson Fury, the former heavyweight boxing champion, has stated his intention to invite United States President Donald Trump to lead his ring walk for the upcoming fight against British rival Anthony Joshua.

This highly anticipated bout is scheduled to take place on December 11 in Cardiff, Wales, at the 80,000-capacity Principality Stadium. Fury expressed his desire for the President to accompany him, acknowledging the unlikelihood of his attendance due to his current presidential duties.

"I’ll definitely make that offer to my old buddy, old pal, and we’ll see if he’s available," Fury was quoted as saying by British media. He added, "Probably unlikely because of the situation he’s in at the moment, being the president of the United States."

Fury and Trump have a prior connection, having met at the UFC Freedom 250 event held at the White House in June. At that event, Fury wore a cap that read "Donald Trump for Prime Minister" after his US travel ban was reportedly lifted by President Trump.

Despite the significant matchup with Joshua, Fury has indicated that this fight is a stepping stone to his primary objective: a trilogy bout against Oleksandr Usyk. Usyk has defeated Fury twice in their previous encounters. Fury stated that he does not intend to retire after facing Joshua and views the fight as preparation for Usyk.

"I don’t have any intention of retiring after Joshua. I’m using this as a warm-up for Usyk," Fury said. He further elaborated on his immediate plans, declaring, "I can guarantee that on the night when I knock him spark out, he won’t know what time it is. And then I want the rabbit [Usyk] in New York City."

Fury also highlighted his current activity level, aiming for his most prolific year since 2018. He mentioned recent sparring sessions, including 12 rounds with Arslanbek Makhmudov and seven rounds with Mariusz Wach, both large heavyweights. The boxer expressed confidence in his physical condition, stating, "I’m firing on all cylinders at the moment. I feel fantastic. I’m 38 years young."

The proposed fight between Fury and Joshua has been a subject of significant discussion and delays. Al Jazeera has previously explained the reasons behind these postponements and the exchanges between the two camps, underscoring the high stakes and public anticipation for the clash.
