This shift was driven by dissatisfaction with the party's stance on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and its continued military support for Israel amid the ongoing violence in Gaza and Lebanon.

Yemeni-American activist Samraa Luqman stated she had no regrets about voting for President Donald Trump in 2024, despite his administration's "pro-war and anti-immigration policies." She emphasized that for the community, it was "untenable to vote for Democrats as Israel’s genocide unfolded in Gaza." Luqman explained that holding the Democratic Party accountable was a priority, even if it meant enduring another four years of a Trump presidency.

Political strategist Hussein Dabajeh, active in the Detroit area with its large Arab and Muslim populations, echoed this sentiment. He stated that the "lesser of two evils" argument no longer swayed Arab voters, and he could not "with a good heart, good conscience" tell someone to vote for either Kamala Harris or Donald Trump. This position reflects a broader disillusionment among Arab Americans who felt their concerns were ignored.

The popularity of Democrats among Arab Americans significantly declined in 2024. President Joe Biden's administration was criticized for ignoring calls for a ceasefire in Gaza and for continuing to provide Israel with weapons and military aid, which was seen as enabling the killing of tens of thousands of Palestinians. Vice President Harris's refusal to consider an arms embargo against Israel further alienated many within the community.

In response to these policies, many Arab Americans, who had traditionally voted Democratic, chose not to support Harris. Donald Trump, presenting himself as a "peace" candidate, actively sought ties with Arab community advocates. His campaign held rallies in Michigan, with Trump appearing alongside local Muslim leaders and visiting Dearborn, a city with a large Arab and Muslim population.

Trump ultimately won Michigan, with many Arab voters in the Dearborn area opting against Harris. Their choices included voting for Trump, supporting a third-party candidate, leaving the top of the ballot blank, or abstaining from voting altogether. This electoral behavior marked a significant departure from previous voting patterns.
