A woman sexually assaulted by convicted double murderer Simon Levy in 2018 has told the BBC that police failures allowed her "nightmare" to become "real life" as Levy went on to attack and kill more women.

Laura, whose surname is being withheld, said she reported Levy to the Metropolitan Police in 2018, believing she was helping to protect others. However, she now feels "betrayed" by what he was subsequently permitted to do.

Levy was convicted on Friday of murdering Carmenza Valencia-Trujillo and Sheryl Wilkins, and raping another woman in London in 2025. He is scheduled to be sentenced on Wednesday. Earlier this year, he was also convicted of sexually assaulting 11 other women, with 10 of these assaults occurring on London's public transport system between 2023 and 2025.

An investigation revealed a series of "disastrous decisions" by police, prosecutors, and courts that left Levy free to attack 14 additional women after his initial conviction for sexual assault. He was a registered sex offender at the time due to his assaults on Laura and another victim in 2018.

Laura described Levy as "evil" and stated that his initial attack "completely changed my life." She added that she now realizes her worst fears were coming true as Levy "was actually still out preying on vulnerable women."

Waiving her right to anonymity, Laura expressed her devastation for the other victims and their families. "I feel like when I reported it, I was doing the right thing and I thought I was doing it to protect other women," she said. "I feel absolutely devastated for all of those women that have been affected by him – and the families."

She feels let down by the entire criminal justice system, including the Met Police, the courts, judges who granted Levy bail, and the Crown Prosecution Service. "They're all as guilty for allowing him to continue to do what he was doing," Laura stated. "They could have prevented so many women from being hurt. They could have prevented two women from losing their lives."

Laura's encounter with Levy occurred in August 2018 while she was traveling with a friend to Notting Hill Carnival. Levy followed them and subjected her to a serious sexual assault. She managed to push him away, becoming hysterical. Despite her and her friend's attempts to escape, Levy continued to pursue them. A group of men eventually intervened after Laura reported what had happened.

When Laura attempted to report the assault to the police, she claims two Met officers dismissed her, stating they were "busy with other, more urgent, things." A third, female officer eventually took her details but, according to Laura, did not ensure her safety or search for Levy that day, even though she and her friend possessed a photograph of him. "There was a lot more things they could have done to make me feel supported," she said.
