Russell Brand's wife, Laura, testified at his rape and sexual assault trial, describing him as "kind" and a "wonderful father to our children." The 39-year-old told the jury at Southwark Crown Court that her husband "treats me to know me" and that she feels "very seen by him." She expressed her love for Brand, stating, "I love him very much."

Brand faces seven charges: three counts of rape, three counts of sexual assault, and one of attempted indecent assault. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges. The allegations span a 10-year period between 1999 and 2009 and involve six female complainants.

During her testimony on Thursday, Laura Brand was asked by the defense if her husband respected her boundaries regarding sexual intimacy. She confirmed that he did, stating, "Yes, absolutely." She also recounted their first meeting at the Edinburgh Festival in 2006, detailing how they began a relationship shortly after.

Laura Brand acknowledged that she was aware of Brand's promiscuity during their time apart and while he was married to singer Katy Perry from 2010 to 2012. She stated, "I was very aware of it. I could read about it regularly in the papers, so I was aware of it and he also told me." She and Brand reconnected in 2015 and married in 2017. They now have three children together.

She described their current marriage as "very honest, frank, and clear," emphasizing its importance to their relationship. She explained that when they first began dating, she was not interested in a relationship if he was sleeping with other people, but ultimately became invested. She noted it was "clear it was difficult for him to be monogamous."

Brand himself appeared in the witness box the previous day, telling the jury that the allegations had a "devastating impact" on his relationships, leaving friends and colleagues hesitant to associate with him.

Throughout the trial, Russell Brand has shown little emotion, though he was seen smiling during parts of his wife's evidence, and even laughed when she mentioned their friends and colleagues.

Laura Brand is the daughter of former golfer Bernard Gallacher and the sister of TV presenter Kirsty Gallacher. Her testimony offers a personal perspective on Brand's character amidst the serious legal proceedings.
