An Israeli air strike on a motorcycle has killed two individuals in the Lebanese town of Kfar Reman, the Ministry of Public Health confirmed. The strike occurred near the strategic Ali al-Taher ridge in Nabatieh, a location the Israeli army claims to have captured, although Hezbollah has not corroborated this assertion.

These attacks come amidst a period of intensified Israeli military operations in southern Lebanon, targeting villages and towns. The escalation has persisted despite previous truce agreements brokered by the United States administration on June 4 and June 26. The June 4 ceasefire was predicated on a complete halt of Hezbollah fire and the withdrawal of its fighters from south of the Litani River.

The National News Agency (NNA) of Lebanon reported that the strike took place near the Ali al-Taher ridge. Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz stated that the military had successfully cleared Hezbollah fighters from tunnels located beneath the ridge, which offers a commanding view of a region that has become a significant flashpoint.

In addition to the fatal strike, Israeli raids and artillery shelling also impacted seven towns in the Tyre and Nabatieh districts. The NNA identified these towns as al-Mansouri, Majdal Zoun, Buyout al-Sayyad, Beit Lif, and Srebbine in the Tyre district, and Zawtar al-Sharqiyah and Mayfadoun in Nabatieh. These attacks reportedly caused no casualties.

The current wave of Israeli escalation, which began on March 2, has led to substantial casualties and displacement according to Lebanese authorities. Since the start of this period, Israeli attacks have resulted in over 4,000 deaths and at least 12,000 injuries. Furthermore, more than one million people have been forced to leave their homes.

Israel has reportedly expanded its military presence across considerable areas of southern Lebanon. This action follows Hezbollah's firing of rockets into Israel, which was presented as retaliation for US-Israeli air strikes that led to the death of Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

In related developments, Israeli authorities announced the release of four Lebanese individuals held in Israeli prisons. These detainees were transferred to Lebanese authorities via the International Committee of the Red Cross. This release occurred a day after another Lebanese man was freed as part of an agreement between the two nations.

The ongoing conflict and escalating tensions in southern Lebanon raise significant concerns for regional stability and humanitarian conditions, particularly for the displaced populations. The effectiveness and adherence to previous truce agreements remain a critical point of contention.
